Fraud Prevention
This is the part of the business that can turn a profitable internet
business into a loss and cost you $1000's so please read the
documentation. The great part of an online business is that if you are
unsure of the authenticity of an order, don't send it, there are many
more good orders on the vast web.
- Check that the user is in the phone book to make sure the name
and address matches the order.
- Do not send goods to someone with a free email address such as
hotmail or yahoo.
- Do not send goods to another delivery address other than the one
on the credit card statement. Especially don't send it where the
customer says its a present for a friend/relative in another
country.
- Do not send goods if Worldpay throws up a WARNING email.
- Do not send goods if there is a CAUTION from Worldpay
- Do not send goods if the buyer has an unconfirmed address on
PayPal.
- Do not send goods to high risk countries such as Asia and
eastern Europe unless you are positive of the authenticity.
- Do not send goods until money order payment has cleared and
funds are in your bank. Money orders can also be forged.
- If in doubt about the buyer, ask for a fax of passport and/or
drivers license and/or credit card statement.
- When you are unsure, request a transfer the funds directly into
your bank account.
